Aluminum sheets are produced in accordance with GOST 21631-76 from aluminum and its alloys of grades A0-A7, AD0, AD1, AD, AMg2, AMg3, AMg5, AMg6B, AMts, VD1, D16A, D1, etc. The thickness of aluminum sheet is within 0. 3-10.5mm, aluminum sheet length - 2000-7200mm. The weight of an aluminum sheet is determined according to the tables of GOST 21631-76, which show the theoretical weights of one linear meter of sheet.
Possessing fire-resistant qualities, as well as incomparable resistance to atmospheric and mechanical influences, aluminum sheet is increasingly used by many designers.

How to calculate the weight of an aluminum sheet
You can independently calculate the weight of an aluminum sheet using two methods.
- Using a table of the theoretical mass of one meter of sheet according to GOST or a reference book.
- Use the specific gravity of one square meter to calculate.
The first method is more accurate and gives minimal error in the calculation. When compiling GOST tables, the following are taken into account:
- maximum permissible deviation of sheet dimensions;
- weight of one linear meter of standard thickness and width for each grade of rolled aluminum.
To determine the weight of the entire sheet, you need to select from the table the weight of one meter, which corresponds to the thickness and width of the calculated product, and multiply it by the length. In this way, you can calculate the mass of the entire batch by multiplying the result by the number of sheets.
To obtain more accurate data on the weight of an aluminum sheet, the grade of the alloy from which it is made is taken into account. In GOST tables and reference books, each brand has its own conversion factor. The previously obtained sheet weight must be multiplied by the appropriate value.
If there is no coefficient value according to GOST, then the general indicator for other alloys is used equal to 0.95.
To calculate the mass of aluminum sheet by specific gravity, the formula V=L*H*T is used, where L is the length of the sheet, H is its width and T is its thickness. Taking into account the size of the sheet with an area of one square meter, the result is V=1*1*T.
The resulting value is multiplied by the density of the sheet alloy in kg/m3. The density of the alloy (P) can be found in the reference book. The result is the weight of one square meter in kilograms. When multiplying the specific gravity by the length and width, we get the weight of a specific type of product.
You can use average values to calculate weight.
Aluminum sheet is measured in different places for length, width and thickness. The maximum values are added to the minimum values, the sum is divided by two. All other calculations are made using the same formula as for calculating mass by specific gravity.
With all types of sheet weight calculations, there are errors. For large volumes, seemingly minor deviations in the mass of one product can turn into tons. The weight of real sheets can fluctuate both up and down by several percent; this is due to technological variation during production. The dimensions of the sheet depend on the brand of material used and the type of processing:
- The width varies between 600-2000 mm.
- The minimum length is 2000 mm, the maximum is 7000 m.
- Sheet thickness according to GOST 21631-76 - from 0.3 to 10.5 mm.
Rolled aluminum is supplied in sheets of measured, multiple-measured or unmeasured lengths. In the second case, the step is 500 mm.

On one side of the aluminum sheet, the grade and condition of the material, the presence and type of plating, overall dimensions, batch number and quality control stamp are indicated. The data is applied at a distance of no more than 3 cm from the edge. When the thickness of rolled aluminum is less than 1 mm, marking only the top sheet of the bundle is allowed.
