Metal plasma cutting table for CNC machine

The correct choice of work table in plasma cutting installations plays an important role in the process of processing metal sheets and, in addition to general convenience, affects the quality of the work done. The overall design of the table can consist of several components, which are usually divided into three types: a surface made of removable plates, an air sectional exhaust table and a water-filling system. Each approach to organizing a workbench for a metal cutting installation has its own advantages and disadvantages, allowing you to achieve the necessary characteristics, depending on the volume and type of work performed.

Our table water filling system:

The practicality of a water-filling table is difficult to overestimate, because all the smoke and hot scale (burst) fly straight into the table, poured with a layer of water, which is located under the surface being cut at a distance of several centimeters.
The essence of the design of a water-filling table is simple and very functional. Such a table always contains a certain layer of water, which acts as a liquid filter and neutralizer of metal combustion products. All debris and dust particles formed when the metal is melted by a beam of hot plasma immediately fall into the water under the metal and do not pollute the surrounding space inside and outside the workshop with smoke and scale. Our table guarantees complete neutralization of smoke generated by cutting even the rustiest metal. In the water-filling tables of our production, there is no additional energy consumption involved in ensuring the cleaning process - everything is organized extremely simply and functionally - this is what distinguishes them from air-sectional tables, which require electricity to operate the hood motor. In addition, the water-filling system of the plasma cutting table cools, preventing the elements being cut and the sheet of metal being cut from overheating. The disadvantages of this system for organizing a table for cutting include an increase in the weight of the table (although this simultaneously improves stability) and an almost one hundred percent probability of water getting into the cut workpiece, which negatively affects the ferrous metal, causing corrosion of the surface, which may require cleaning in the future.

Advantages of a water-filling table:

✔ no additional financial costs for electricity are required;

✔ the most effective smoke absorption when equipment operates 24/7;

✔ water simultaneously acts as a filter and neutralizer;

✔ excellent cooling of the metal being cut with water over the entire area;

✔ saving room heat during the cold season;

✔ low cost of a ready-made solution;

✔ increased load on the tabletop increases the stability of the table;

✔ does not require additional labor and time costs for commissioning.

✔ since all electronics are located above the structure, possible leaks do not pose a danger to the machine

*Depending on the customer’s needs, the length of the table can be made according to the customer’s individual dimensions.

The disadvantages include:

❗ the impact of moisture on the metal being cut (corrosion of black steel);

❗ difficulty removing small cut parts from the “bath”;

❗ it is worth thinking in advance about the issue of cleaning the cutting “bath” from accumulating scales and parts of grate;

❗ water is replaced as it gets dirty, adding water as it evaporates;

❗ in unheated workshops, with equipment downtime, water may freeze during the winter period.

“Made with us” and on Yandex.Zen

The YUKOM Krasnoyarsk company began production of tables for CNC metal cutting with sectional air exhaust and water-filling.

Our tables are suitable for any CNC metal cutting machines. We are ready to manufacture tables of any size and according to customer drawings. A well-coordinated team of professionals successfully performs their work “excellently”.

In the work of our service center, we often encounter situations where the hood does not work or does not work correctly, which creates a lot of inconvenience in the production workshop.

Air-sectional tables of our production:

The sectional air table allows you to remove harmful plasma emissions by sucking them directly from the cutting zone, which significantly reduces smoke and requirements for the exhaust system.

If necessary, water-filled removable sections can be installed on the table for cutting “on the water surface”. This method allows you to remove harmful emissions by absorbing them with water. Pros:

When moving the torch (plasma torch) with the cutting torch turned on, the dampers of the windows of the air channels in the table alternately open and close, thus, open (most of the time), one damper is opposite exactly the section over which the metal is currently being cut.

Two dampers of adjacent sections are open simultaneously for a short time when the torch (plasma torch) passes the boundaries of these sections. When the damper is open, cutting products are forced out of the section due to exhaust.

This method has an undeniable advantage over the simultaneous intake of air volume from the entire surface of the table, since it does not require high power of ventilation equipment.

The table installed in production is connected to an existing or additionally installed filter ventilation system. For the correct operation of the servos of the table exhaust system, a source of compressed air of 0.4-0.5 MPa (4-5 kgf/sq.cm) is also required.

Advantages of the air sectional table:

  • ✔ Accelerated heat removal from the metal being cut allows you to reduce the deformation of the part and cut out many internal contours at a short distance from each other;
  • ✔ Harmful emissions are removed without additional equipment (ventilation ducts, exhaust fans and filter-ventilation units)

Manufacturing tables for plasma cutting of metal

Tables manufactured in our production have excellent geometry and manufacturing accuracy down to hundredths of a millimeter. The geometry of the table is very important for the smooth operation of the equipment and the production of accurate, high-quality products.

Why is the accuracy and quality of table workmanship so important? If the axes of the cutting system are shifted relative to the plasma torch or cutter, or, even worse, the geometry is not respected, an error occurs when cutting products, which often turns out to be critical. Tables for plasma cutting of metal must have correct, adjusted angles, and the surface, especially in the case of parallel lamellas serving as a supporting surface, must be perfectly aligned relative to each other. One protruding lamella can bend the workpiece, and therefore the finished product.

Removable plates

The surface of any table must meet certain minimum requirements. It ensures a uniform position of the sheet of metal being processed and, in the process of cutting it, experiences the action of the plasma cutter of the installation. In this regard, almost any table is based on a surface made of removable plates installed vertically and resembling a lattice when viewed from above. Firstly, they play the role of edges on which the processed sheets will lie. At the same time, thanks to the gaps between each other, the plates allow debris and small particles of waste metal to pass through. During operation, they wear out due to the influence of the plasma cutter, for this reason they are sometimes called “sacrificial”. But the design of the desktop is specially designed so that they can be removed and replaced with new ones.
