What kind of fences are installed on?

More about Egoza

The EGOZA logo (trademark) belongs to the enterprise of the same name, located in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region (next to the Ilmensky Nature Reserve). The Ural company became one of the first developers and pioneers in the implementation of metal security systems.

Egoza barbed wire is a prefabricated structure. Includes:

• flexible profile strip of metal with sharp cutting edges;
• power element - steel core.

To produce the tape, galvanized low-carbon steel with a thickness of 0.5–0.55 mm is used. Requirements for metal are set out in GOST 3559-75 or GOST 14918-80. The cutting of shaped parts that form the cutting edges is carried out on a press.

The power element is a zinc-coated wire with a diameter of 2.5 mm (a range of up to 3–4 mm is possible), produced in accordance with GOST 7372-79 “Steel rope wire”, GOST 9850-72 “Galvanized steel wire for wire cores” or GOST 9389-75 “Spring carbon steel wire.” The use of such products is justified by the fact that they are characterized by increased resistance to cutting, biting with a tool or chopping with a chisel (axe). This increases the time it takes to eliminate the obstacle that has arisen in front of the uninvited guest.

Based on fidget fencing, a number of complex products have been developed and introduced into production:

1. SBB EGOZA – spiral safety barrier “EGOZA”. It is a spiral (conventionally – 3d format) based on ACL or ASCL. Fixation of adjacent turns is carried out with staples made of tape or iron wire. This ensures enhanced protective functions:
   • impossibility of pressing down the unfolded spiral;

   the occurrence of serious difficulties when biting or sawing a thorn;

2. Such a barrier cannot be overcome by an animal or an unprepared person.

Finished products are formed into coils. The coil diameter is 400, 500, 600, 750, 900 and 1700 mm. The latest size of the fidget is a reinforced fence under its own name SBB “BARS”.

• tape – galvanized metal strip 0.5–0.55 mm thick;

3. PPB EGOZA – flat safety barrier. In this case, fidget is a protective fence in the form of a flat canvas (conditionally – 2D format). That is, adjacent turns are displaced relative to each other in the same plane. The use of such a design is due to the fact that, while maintaining its basic functions, the fence takes up less space along the protected perimeter than the SSB. This is important when placing a barbed wire fence within a populated area or at an enterprise with a limited production area.
4. MBB EGOZA – mobile security barrier. The design feature is the placement of the SBB between two flat frames forming a load-bearing frame. Product advantage:
   increased speed of deployment (collapse) of the fence;
5. easy to carry over short distances;
6. possibility of transportation by a small-sized vehicle;
7. more rational use of warehouse space during storage.
8. PKLZ EGOZA – flat razor belt fence. The fencing is made as a flat sheet of ACL tapes forming diamond-shaped cells. Variety – PKLZ MUREN. The cells are arranged in the form of a square. The design allows you to create a flat fence with a continuous mesh fence with protective piercing edges sticking out to the sides.

Advantages and disadvantages of installing Egoza on a fence

Installing Egoza on a fence is a great way to protect your territory from intruders. Dismantling a correctly and securely fastened “thorn” requires serious time investment.

Description

The main purpose of the fence is to stop the movement of an animal or person along a previously chosen route. In the case of cattle, this is leaving the walking area. For people:

• preventing entry into someone else's territory in order to seize property or secrets;
• protection against anti-vandal actions;
• restricting access to areas with substances harmful to health - industrial landfills, reservoirs, etc.;
• fencing an industrial zone with working mechanisms and for solving other similar problems.

In general terms, barbed wire is a wire-tape structure with short, pointed, piercing-cutting edges sticking out in different directions. The latter, digging into the body of an animal or person, create unpleasant irritating sensations. This feeling stops further progress.

Types of structures

The protective product is made of steel. Based on their composition, types of barbed wire are divided into:

1. Wire construction. Made in the form of a metal thread (cord):
   • Homogeneous. It consists of pieces of wire, parts of which are woven in such a way as to ensure an inextricable connection. The pointed ends are directed to the sides.

   Corrugated. The flexible parts are a “pigtail” woven into a strand. Two wires are used. The number of protruding sharp ends in one node increases to four.

According to the degree of hardness, the thorn is divided:

• Soft. Made from annealed wire. It is characterized by increased flexibility, bends easily, and is convenient for installation. It is used for fencing small areas, more often for domestic needs.
• Elastic . Has increased rigidity and strength. Used when there are long spans.

The classic type of barbed wire is produced according to GOST 285-69 standards.

2. Ribbon. It is a narrow strip of metal with sharp edges carved into it. The latter are made in the form of a blade, easily damaging soft tissues. It is rarely used on its own (it can be easily cut with metal scissors), more often as part of protective structures (on a supporting frame, supports).
3. Combined product. The design uses wire and tape. Subdivided:
   • ASKL is a reinforced twisted razor tape twisted around a load-bearing reinforcing wire. The disadvantage is that the barbed strip can be dismantled quite easily, providing passage.

   AKL – reinforced razor tape. The latter is rolled (wrapped lengthwise) on a power flexible rod. The design successfully resists mechanical stress. It is almost impossible to destroy it with a cutting tool. The barbed element is difficult to separate from the flexible power core.

This type of barbed fence has another common name - EGOZA (GYURZA, CONCERTINA).

How to properly install Egoza on a fence (useful tips)

Correctly installing the Egoza on the fence is half the battle; it is also important not to get hurt during the work. Therefore, safety precautions should be observed.

• Installation must be carried out in thick protective clothing, as you can seriously cut yourself. Particular care should be taken to protect your hands and wrists. Thick gauntlets designed for welding work are best.
• The support (stepladder or sawhorse) should be as reliable as possible. If you fall from it directly onto the wire, there is a high risk of serious injury.
• If possible, use the help of one or two partners.
• When installing a protective barrier on a metal fence, the brackets can be welded to the posts. It will be more reliable this way.

Characteristics

In production, we adhere to the current GOST 9850−74. It is recommended to use spring wire with a high carbon content.

Galvanized metal core – power element. He is responsible for extending the service life. If the razor fence is not galvanized, it will become unusable within a year. The optimal thickness of the zinc layer is 170-220 g/m2.

Main parameters of the hardware product:

• Number of fastening staples.

All of the above values ​​are important in the manufacture of the fence. For example, the maximum effect depends on the diameter.

How is the “thorn” made?

A reinforced steel tape with spikes is screwed onto a specially designed metal drum. The coils of wire are fastened with steel staples made of stainless steel. When such a spiral is stretched, a cylindrical impenetrable barbed barrier is formed.

In specialized stores you can purchase prickly products of several types:

• Monobasic. This hardware is made of galvanized metal wire. It has evenly spaced spikes made of similar wire, but of smaller diameter.
• Double base tape. For manufacturing, two wire bases are used, which are located in parallel. Moreover, the spikes have a spiral shape. They simultaneously fix both bases, performing a security function.

To extend the service life of the product, it is zinc plated.

This layer allows you to use this wire for many years. It can be dismantled and installed in another place for many years. Galvanized material almost never corrodes and does not require special fasteners. Delivery of “prickly” hardware is carried out in coils. The length of the wire does not exceed 600 meters. How to Install Barbed Wire on Your Own?

1. Weld the brackets to the top of the slab at a distance of 2.5 - 3 meters. You should not make brackets from a 45 x 45 mm metal corner; such a bracket is strong enough and does not deform.

During physical effort, it works as a support and helps to overcome the obstacle. Better is a metal corner, 25 x 25 mm. With such a bracket, an attacker will not be able to pull himself up. Thanks to the deformation of the bracket, your security, when walking around the perimeter, will be able to determine where an attempt was made to illegally enter.

2. Painting the bracket, everything is simple and clear here.

3. Along the edges of the brackets, along the fence, stretch a guide galvanized wire with a diameter of 2.5 mm. in two rows, holes must be made in the brackets in advance. Fix the wire tension on the outer brackets. The wire is needed to prevent the fidget from deforming and falling off the top of the fence.

4. The barbed wire on the ground is stretched to the required length. The length is regulated by the manufacturer. When stretched, the wire is inserted between two guides. You can also stretch the fidget on a fence if it is concrete slabs, but it is not safe and requires skill.

5. Once the entire perimeter is surrounded by barbed wire, it needs to be straightened. This procedure does not carry any functionality, only a visual effect.

6. After the adjustment, workers should walk around the perimeter and attach the fidget to the galvanized wire guide, with mounting brackets on each side. The distance between staples is 80 cm.

Types of barbed wire

Egoza is the name of several types of fencing. All are no different in appearance and characteristics. The simplest option is the thread-like type. It can be homogeneous or with continuous interlacing of parts and sharp spikes directed in different directions. The corrugated fence is represented by a “pigtail”. High strength is provided by spikes and veins. Moreover, the number of these elements is doubled here.

Let's look at the first category - by composition.

Egoza is produced not only in round form. Sometimes it is made in tape form. This product has a flat structure, and the spikes are located along its edges. It is made from galvanized metal strip, so it is easy to cut with special tools. But this seriously limits its use.

Most often it is used to create a combined fence. They combine round and ribbon wire.

They are divided into two types:

• ASCL. This is a reinforced tape. It wraps around the reinforcement in a twisted state. The variety is in demand and popular, but is not highly reliable; dismantling is easy to do to get into a protected area. To increase the protective properties, the number of spikes is increased, so the fence becomes more impressive;
• AKL. This tape wraps around a flexible rod base. The design withstands mechanical damage well, it is strong, reliable and durable. There are sharp, symmetrical spikes on the profile.

The second category is based on the degree of rigidity. There are two types here:

• Elastic – provides good strength and rigidity. Used for fencing long-span areas;
• Soft - in the process of its production, annealed wire is used. This is a flexible material that, if necessary, quickly takes the desired shape and direction. Therefore, it should be used for working with complex-shaped fences or for short sections of the fence. Most often in demand in the household sector.

The third category is voluminous and flat.

Such structures quickly deploy on the ground and cover impressive areas on any type of surface.

The most common types:

• SBB - fencing is made from ACL or ASCL. The wire is wound and fastened with staples in several rows. A checkerboard pattern is used. The finished structure is springy, elastic and voluminous. Such a fence is difficult to cross illegally. It is simply unrealistic to push or cut even with a special device;
• PBB is a hardware product made in the form of a spiral structure. The design is flattened and has turns connected to each other by brackets. It can be easily installed on support posts in several rows. Moreover, they will not even go beyond the fence. The structure is excellent for arranging public spaces;
• PKZ - in the structure of the fence, the wire is laid in diagonal rows, just as the cells are arranged in a chain-link. The tops of the diamonds are connected to each other by metal brackets. They are additionally coated with a zinc layer.
