Like any other vehicle, a motorcycle requires periodic maintenance. However, if a car can be driven into a pit and repairs can be carried out without problems, then such a trick will not work with a two-wheeled “horse”. In this case, a special motorcycle stand is required, which is a rigid welded frame structure capable of lifting the “bike” and fixing it at the desired height.
Such “stands” can be purchased without any problems at any specialized store, but they will cost at least 5,000 rubles. Some motorcyclists prefer to use improvised stands for these purposes, the role of which is most often played by hemp. However, this is not entirely convenient. Therefore, it is much easier to make a stand yourself.
Side steps for rider and passenger
Such products are installed on all motorcycle models initially. They are replaced when they break (for example, after the bike falls) or when they want to slightly tune their “favorite” with the help of accessible and inexpensive accessories. The scope for choice is simply enormous (both in price and design). You can choose footrests that are either close in color to your motorcycle, or bright and eye-catching. The price for such products is quite affordable and, depending on the manufacturer, varies from 400 to 1500 rubles for a set of two pieces.
Engine power measurement stand
All-wheel drive engine stand CARTEC LPS 2810-4WD
consists of a roller stand and a computer with specialized software.
This is expensive professional equipment that allows you to measure the characteristics of car engines with power up to 750 hp. on one axis.
So, in theory, we can measure up to 1,500 horsepower in an all-wheel drive vehicle with a 50/50 torque split.
The principle of operation of the stand is as follows: the car is secured with belts, accelerates to maximum speed, while the rollers on which the wheels ride are equipped with special brakes and prevent acceleration.
After reaching maximum speed, the brakes are released and the car “rolls” until it comes to a complete stop. By taking constant measurements, the computer takes into account transmission losses and calculates engine characteristics. As a result, we get a graph of the dependence of engine power and torque on revolutions.
These are the graphs that automakers publish in advertising brochures.
Cost of measurements*
Measurements Cost
Mono drive up to 250 hp | 6,000 rub. |
Mono drive over 250 hp / All-wheel drive up to 250 hp | 9,000 rub. |
All-wheel drive over 250 hp | 12,000 rub. |
Cars with power over 400 hp | from 15,000 rub. |

What does this give the client?
The stand makes it possible to measure the main engine characteristics in real time on a specific car. Everything happens directly in our box. For everyone who wants to measure the characteristics of their car and improve its dynamic performance using chip tuning, we offer the following procedure:
- We install the car on the stand and read the program from the engine control unit (ECU) using special equipment
- we send the factory software to our partners at A&A Automobiltechnik (Germany), and in the meantime we measure the car using the factory program
- a German engineer modifies the program and sends it to us, our specialist re-registers the ECU and the car is immediately checked on the engine stand.
Thus, we confirm the stated results, and the client receives a document about the work done.
For many modern cars, our German partners have well-established power increase programs and there is no need to measure each car. But there are engines with software “adapted for Russia” or cars specific to Russia. To debug such machines, you cannot do without a motor stand. The Germans simply do not have the opportunity to get such a car at their stand.
The client of such a car no longer needs to drive the car to check the program. The engine stand allows you to quickly respond to possible shortcomings of the new ECU firmware. When we identify nuances, we immediately correct them by exchanging electronic information with the Germans. Sometimes this happens directly in video conference mode.

What does the graph show?
A graph of engine performance measurements clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of chip tuning. From it you can understand at what speed the engine has more thrust and whether there are any dips in power. Usually the graph shows the power and torque curves - in black the factory ones, in red - after tuning.
Any serious tuning studio has such graphs in its portfolio and is happy to show them to its clients. But very often, not real, but drawn graphic representations of expected results are posted on the Internet. This is especially true for “tuning boxes”. In practice, it may turn out to be completely different from what is promised in the advertisement.
Sometimes even factory parameters are underestimated, despite positive subjective feelings.
Additional footrests for motorcycle arches
This type of stands is intended for use on long trips (it’s not for nothing that in English they are called “highway pegs” - “hairpins” for driving on the highway). During such a motorway trip there is no need to frequently change gears or use the brake lever. The only problem is that the muscles become very stiff. To change body position without making frequent stops to warm them up, they use “highway pegs”. Typically, such footpegs are installed on the arches of a motorcycle. The spring-loaded design of these products makes it easy to move them with your foot to the working position and back.
Universal additional footrests for motorcycles are presented on the market by a variety of manufacturers, there are many design options, the price varies widely from 1200÷1900 rubles (from Partol or Bikemaster) to 7000÷9000 rubles (from Adventure Designs). Therefore, every biker can easily choose a set of such products to his liking and with a mount that is suitable specifically for a specific motorcycle model.

Do-it-yourself dynamometer - Metalworker's Handbook
Today, a dyno is often used to tune and diagnose bikes. However, the attitude towards him is ambiguous.
For some, this is an unaffordable luxury, while others believe that this method is only needed by professional athletes.
To understand how things really are, you should talk to a qualified specialist who will clarify many points.
In Moscow, there are only a few technical centers that provide services for measuring the power of motorcycles. You can count the number of specialists who can take correct measurements, have extensive experience, and can really set up a bike for the season on the fingers of one hand.
Fortunately, MOTORRIKA has its own dyno, the DynoJet 250i, which has been serviced by Forspeed Service for several years.
During this time, the team of specialists managed to accumulate vast experience.
This allows us to diagnose devices not only for athletes (more frequent clients), but also to serve ordinary motorcycle owners, tuners and customizers.

Measurements of power and torque from the motorcycle power unit are made directly from the rear wheel. This is the most accurate indicator of the correct settings and key parameters of the engine, fuel supply system, ignition, and gearbox.
Adjustable footrests
Adjustable footrests are designed specifically for installation on sports motorcycles from Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Ducati. The design of these products allows you to optimize the biker's position for a more comfortable (or aggressive) ride, both in the city and on the track. The footrest holder contains several holes that allow you to adjust the position of the footrest itself: move it forward, backward, up, down; change the angle of inclination. The kit also includes a gearshift lever and brake pedal, which can be adjusted to suit the size of the biker's feet. An original set of such products for Yamaha YZF-R1 from Rizoma, Vortex or MGP today costs 23,700÷25,000 rubles, while a copy from Kemimoto, Arashi or Yuan Feng can be purchased for 5600÷9500 rubles.

vk.com/photo22543124_155218114 Check it out. It was made from the shock absorber rod of some truck. Thick PPC and chrome plated, it didn’t look bad. Well, in action it turned out to be simply not really cool. even better than I could have thought and imagined))))) He’s not a lot of farmers, don’t scold him ^_^ I just installed a regular fork for testing, I had a Ural 8.103.40. tourist with hand fork. I skated on it for 3 years, I was 93 years old.
The length may be suitable from a passenger car stock. try it. If you're interested, I can tell you in more detail)
I have 2 exhausts and you have 1, but if I have 2 exhausts, I don’t think this will work?
nonsense. do it locally. turn out a little lower, or to the side. It won't matter! I also installed 2 mufflers. and she came up. the current didn’t seem to hit much of the jammer
I made it from an Izha step, a little welding with an angle grinder and it fits like a native one :)
Thanks, do you have a photo?
No photographs I took very little back then. I sold the motorcycle a long time ago.
I saw on some custom car the side of a nail puller. In my opinion, a brilliant solution to the problem.
It’s easier to copy from some kind of moto. for example, Izh.na Izhe is on the rear fork, but the device is perfect for the Urals under the engine. All the footrests are designed in approximately the same way. I always made them without drawings.
Center stand
All motorcycles and even mopeds include a side folding stand. But not all bike models are equipped with central steps for parking a motorcycle. Typically you have to purchase and install this option yourself.
There are two types of such products:
- Parking pegs on a motorcycle that allow both wheels to touch the ground while the bike is parked.
- Support devices arranged in such a way that when the vehicle is parked, there is clearance between the rear wheel tire and the ground.
Products of the second type, due to their functionality, are the most popular among most motorcyclists. They make it easy to lubricate a chain, repair a flat tire, or perform other types of maintenance or minor repairs.
How to put a motorcycle on the center stand with minimal physical effort:
- Place the motorcycle on a side stand.
- We hold the steering wheel with our left hand, and with our right hand any convenient ledge in the area of the back of the seat.
- We place the heel of the right foot on the “pedal” of the central footrest.
- Making sure that both posts of the center stand are touching the ground, holding the bike in an upright position, transfer your body weight to your right leg without lifting your left leg from the ground.
- The motorcycle (even a heavy one) is mounted on a center stand.
- Remove the side step.

The video clearly confirms that this is easy and simple to do:
What to do for those whose own weight does not exceed 50÷60 kg, and the above-described principle of setting does not work. You can install a reinforced footrest on a motorcycle, in which the “pedal” lever is larger, therefore, installation will require less effort (that is, less body weight). Or you can upgrade the standard device yourself. It's quite easy to do this:
- We cut off the standard lever with a grinder.
- We make a new, longer lever (the dimensions depend on the design features of the motorcycle).
- We weld a new lever in place of the old one.
Important! When the return spring secures the device in the transport position, the new lever must not come into contact with any parts of the bike.
Making a stand
First you need to prepare the foundation of the future structure. To do this, you need to install the corners so that they form a rectangle and weld them. After that:
- We install 4 30 mm tubes in the corners and weld them to the base. It is important to ensure that all elements are installed parallel to each other.
- We install smaller tubes (25 mm) into the resulting glasses. They can be pre-lubricated to make them rise and fall easier.
- We measure the height of all the “legs of the stool”. If they differ, then the finished structure will constantly stop.
- Preparing the upper platform. To do this, we adjust the corrugated sheet of metal to the required size and weld it to the ends of the pipes installed in the glasses.
- To add strength, we weld square pipes, angles or channels onto the longitudinal parts of the platform.
- We prime and paint the finished structure.
