I-beam (T-beam) weight calculator and hot-rolled T-beam weight tables

The calculator allows you to calculate the weight of hot-rolled and other rolled products of the following nomenclature: I-beams with sloped flanges and with parallel flange edges of various modifications, as well as T-beams (T-beams).

  • The dimensions of the I-beams are specified by GOST 26020-83;
  • Tavrov - TU 14-2-685-86;
  • hot-rolled I-beams with parallel flange edges obtained by longitudinal cutting in half in accordance with GOST 26020-83.

When calculating the mass of 1 meter of rolled stock, the steel density in these standards is taken to be 7.85 g/cm3 (7.85 kg/dm3 or 7850 kg/m3).

I-beams are profiled metal products, which have the letter “H” in cross-section. I-beams come in several types.

The index after the first two digits in the name of the beam determines the type of profiles along the width of the shelves:

Column beams are used to construct vertical columns.

Conventional beams (index “B”) are used for horizontal floors.

Bridge (monorail) beams are used to construct suspended tracks.

I-beams are made from carbon (St. 3 SP/PS) and low-alloy (St. 09G2S) steels.

When calculating the mass of an I-beam in a calculator, you should take information from the table, but if it is not there, then the calculation can be made using a geometric formula, while taking into account the characteristic features associated with the production of metal products. When using the formula, you will need to know the type of qualification of the material and its characteristics.

The length of a standard I-beam made of steel ranges from 4 to 15 meters. It can be with parallel edges of shelves, with wide-brimmed shelves, with columns and with inclined edges. The weight of rolled metal is selected from special tables of the corresponding GOST or calculated using a formula with a small error. When calculating the specific gravity of a metal in a standard manner, the following data is taken by default in the calculator:

  • rolled metal density - 7850 kg/m3;
  • nominal values ​​of the metal taken from the relevant GOST.

To determine the standard, you must first look to see if this designation is on the product itself. If this is not available, it is necessary to find out the method of manufacturing the profile: welded or hot-rolled. This can be determined by visual inspection. If this is a hot-rolled steel structure, you need to determine the shape of the shelves: parallel or not. After this, measurements are taken.

To determine the size of an I-beam or T-beam, you need to know the following values:

  • ρ – material density,
  • S – cross-sectional area of ​​the profile;
  • L – length of the console or minimum distance between extreme points;
  • A – height;
  • a – shelf thickness;
  • B – profile width;
  • b – wall thickness.

In addition, it will be necessary to calculate the level of load on the structure, which can be standard and design. Standard - determined per 1 meter of product. To obtain the design load, the standard load is multiplied by the strength coefficient.

  • or following the example of collecting loads on a beam.

An indicator such as the number of I-beams is required in case the floor beam needs reinforcement with the same design. That is, if there is one beam, you need to indicate “one”, and if there are two located next to each other, then you need to select “two”.

To calculate the mass of 1 meter, first of all, the area of ​​the product is determined, this is done according to the cross-sectional dimensions of the I-beam, after which you need to multiply the resulting value by the density of the material from which the metal product is made, and by its length.
