1. Fixed . Prevents pipe movement. The elements are welded to the supporting surface.
2. Movable . They are fixed on the pipe and can move relative to the support platform, providing the necessary design parameters.
3. Sliding supports for pipelines are one of the types of movable support structures. They provide longitudinal movement of pipes, as well as transverse movements over a given distance.

Structural elements are sliding and roller bearings, fasteners, clamps.

Purpose of fixed pipeline supports

During operation, pipes and other pipeline parts, shut-off, control, protective and other types of fittings experience various types of mechanical loads:

• soil movements and subsidence;
• vibrations from operating equipment and seismic activity;
• wind and snow loads;
• internal stresses in structural materials, welds and threaded connections;
• hydraulic shocks of the working environment;
• linear, annular and volumetric expansion of alloys and metals.

Foundations are most often constructed of concrete, and the transmission link between them and the pipeline itself is precisely the supports, which, on the one hand, follow the shape of the pipes, and on the other, provide a flat surface for installation on the foundation.

Types of sliding supports

Sliding bearings are usually made of metal. The main parts of the supporting structures are the base, racks and a semicircular holder (cradle). A channel or corner is used for the base. There are several types of supports:

1. Sliding clamp support for pipelines. The pipe is attached to the support with clamps. Gaskets are placed under the base to protect the insulating coating.
2. Ball. Used in pipelines to compensate for lateral movement.
3. Roller. Allows movement along the longitudinal axis in cases of thermal expansion and contraction.

If this is not done, then abrasive particles and dust can get into the gap between the pipe and the support. This will lead to thinning of the pipe wall, which can cause an accident.

Installation of sliding support structures

The distance between sliding supports is determined in accordance with the purpose of the pipeline systems and on the basis of strength and deflection calculations. The span is determined depending on the installation method, the parameters of the transported substance and the diameter of the pipeline. Weight, wind and other external loads are taken into account. Installation of movable supports is carried out before pulling the pipes into the cases. This is done so as not to damage the factory insulation. To reduce friction, graphite lubricant is applied to the contacting surfaces. Areas of insulation damaged during welding are painted over.

The importance of using sliding support structures has been proven by theory and practice in the design and operation of a huge number of operating pipelines. Extensive application experience has been accumulated, and many regulatory documents have been created to simplify the design of pipeline systems. But the importance of the task requires careful attention and a qualified approach.

Types of fixed pipeline supports

Overpasses are made of pipes of different diameters, have branches, fittings and special equipment, pass underground, on the surface of the ground and at some elevation from it. Therefore, fixed pipeline supports have many design options, in which different technical solutions are used to support pipes and fix them in space without a single degree of freedom.

Supports in polyurethane foam insulation

Fixed pipeline supports in polyurethane foam insulation are used for channelless installation. The design has the form of a steel sleeve with external insulation in a galvanized shell inside a panel support made of thick-walled metal sheet. The support is mounted at the site of operation, and the main pipes are welded to the glass inside this standard product.

There are climatic versions HL and U with different thicknesses of the heat-insulating layer. For underground routes, a polyethylene shell is usually used, which is not destroyed by ground and soil waters. Ground and overhead highways are often built on fixed supports with a galvanized shell. The production of products is regulated by the GOST 30732 standard. "Dead" support

On the one hand, a dead support has zero maintainability. On the other hand, the design is adjusted once and cannot loosen over time. Technically, a dead support usually looks like this:

• a piece of I-beam or channel located across the pipeline;
• pillows made of sheet material for pipes;
• clamp for welding to the pipe body.

Typically, dead supports become anchors in front of bending sections of pipelines and strengthen the main lines in the area where the branches adjoin. They are part of the series of fixed supports 4.903-10, certified according to the OST 36-17-85 standard.

Lateral fixed support

According to the documentation for the 4.903-10 series, the side supports are marked T10, and in the 5.903-13 series they are also designated as TS-668.00.00, with the last four zeros most often omitted. From the name it is clear that the products are intended for lateral support, that is, compensation of loads in the horizontal plane.

The main nuances of the design of the side fixed supports are:

• for pipes DN 194 – 1420 mm;
• for pipelines with frequent temperature changes and high environmental pressure;
• of the four stops, two are equipped with cushions, the remaining two do not have them;
• all 4 stops are welded to the wall of the pipeline.
