Therefore, we had to put sections of water pipe on the bolts. After the body was screwed to the frame and new earrings took their place, all that remained was to adjust the angle of the radiator. WHAT IS COMPLETED

With new tires the car began to look very impressive. The distance, which for a UAZ with military bridges is 30 centimeters, has increased by 8-9 centimeters.

Device. Three types of frames are installed on UAZ cars. Welded frames consist of two spars connected to each other by cross members. For ease of installation and removal of the motor, one of the cross members is made removable and is bolted to brackets welded to the frame side members. Other cross members are welded to the side members by electric arc welding.

Utility vehicle frame

UAZ-3151 and UAZ-31512 have a second removable cross member. All fastenings installed on the frame, not counting two fastenings for fastening the fixed ends of the front springs, are welded by electric arc welding. The mounting brackets for the fixed ends of the front springs are riveted to the frame side members. The front bumper is attached to the front ends of the side members with six bolts, and tow hooks are attached to the upper flanges of the side members. A double-sided closed-type towing device equipped with a rubber elastic element is attached to the rear cross member of the frame with 4 bolts. In a variant, a rigid device without an elastic element is installed on the UAZ-31512 car, designed for short-term towing of a trailer. Two rear bumpers made of 65G spring steel, 4 mm wide, are mounted on the rear cross member and the ends of the side members on both sides of the towbar.

UAZ suspension lift: Bridge-spring spacer

It is also possible, without disturbing the design of the springs, to slightly raise the UAZ suspension using a spacer between the axle and the spring. In this case, there is no need to wait for a big lift. I don't even recommend becoming a fanatic. And, of course, when making such a spacer, I recommend thinking about securing it at the assembly site, well, along the length of the spring ladder.

In addition, it is possible to forge old springs or buy new ones. There are tuning products, but they are not very cheap.

How to lift a UAZ 469 by changing the suspension design (options)

There are several methods for changing the suspension design. All of them are aimed at increasing the distance between the frame and the axles. The modernization method is selected based on the owner’s personal preferences.

Extended spring earrings

For the elevator, spring earrings from the Gazelle are installed on the UAZ 469 car. They are longer and will increase the distance between the frame and the axles. You can use products from other vehicles. When choosing spring earrings, you should not opt ​​for products with excess length. A very large distance between the spring eye and the mounting bracket will negatively affect the stability of the car.

To ensure that the earrings of one eye do not move relative to each other, they must be firmly fastened together. You can connect them using a bolt, after installing a metal tube between the earrings. A piece of pipe is necessary to prevent deformation of the earring during screeding.

Installing the axle spacer

The front and rear axles of the UAZ 469 are attached to the spring with stepladders. A spacer is provided between the spring and the surface of the axle housing. To avoid longitudinal displacement of the spring when the car is moving, the insert is equipped with a spike connection.

To increase the distance between the spring and the bridge, install a thicker insert. It will not be possible to achieve a noticeable lift from replacing the spacer. Using this method will allow you to raise the car by 2 - 3 cm.

IMPORTANT: When selecting a spacer, you should take into account the length of the stepladders securing the spring to the bridge.

Spring preload

Some car owners install springs on the car for the UAZ 469 elevator. They are mounted between the bridge and the frame. The installation of springs is aimed at lifting and giving the suspension softness when driving off-road. For installation, make homemade ones or purchase ready-made brackets. They are mounted on the frame and axle of the car. Welding is used for installation.

Replacing shock absorbers

If changes are made to the suspension design, the shock absorbers will need to be replaced. Standard travel after the elevator will not be enough. The choice of manufacturer is made based on the personal preferences of the car owner. Shock absorbers with valve adjustment work well. Their design allows you to set the required suspension rigidity.

Replacing springs

For the UAZ 469 elevator, some motorists replace the springs. Select a product with a larger number of sheets than on a standard spring. Replacement is carried out in the following sequence:

• The car is lifted and the frame is placed on supports. The spring in this position is without load.
• Unscrew the stepladders of one of the springs. To facilitate the procedure, you should first lubricate the threads of the stepladders with a specialized compound.
• Unscrew the bolts securing the spring to the brackets mounted on the frame.
• Remove the spring.
• Installing a new product. Assembly is carried out in reverse order.

When replacing springs with products with a large number of sheets, their thickness must be taken into account. Installation of springs with increased thickness requires the installation of long stepladders.

Actuating the springs is actually not very difficult, even if people seem smart after doing it. Many people do this not to raise the suspension, but so that the suspension on the UAZ finally works, handles bumps and becomes relatively smooth. The sources can also be treated quite simply. For them, spacers are simply cut, processed or purchased. Rubber, conveyor belt, metal. There are many options. And most importantly, do not forget that when raising the UAZ suspension, you will need shock absorbers with a longer stroke, since the rebound from the old ones will begin earlier.

What do we get after installing spacers?

1. As a result, the car will become higher than 9 cm due to an increase in ground clearance.
2. Also, after raising the car, you can find that the gas thrust has increased.
3. The engine can create increased roar at high speeds.
4. The reverse speed may stop working due to the displacement of the lever (this can be quickly eliminated with a file).
5. The gas tank has become higher and less susceptible to dynamic shocks.
6. Now we can enjoy off-road driving.

The cost of lifting a car can vary depending on the materials you choose and have on hand. But the best solution would be to buy a branded lift kit. This increases the reliability of the elevator, since all parts are certified and tested in real conditions. The use of improvised means is fraught with consequences.
